Cadishead Rhinos

match date: Sat 10th April

posted by: P Elliott - Monday 12th April, 2010

The Rhinos were on fire right from the starting whistle with Darren Hill scoring within the first minute.

Six minutes later Martin Burgess extended the Rhinos lead and two further tries before the 20 minute mark again from Darren Hill with brother Steve Hill converting all four tries to effectively kill the game off at 24-0.

The Seasiders stemmed the flow as they finally got some possession but were unable to breach Cadishead’s rock solid defence.

With a 24-0 half time lead the Rhinos started the second half in similar fashion with forwards Karl Leighton, Jason Reed , Matty Taylor and Dave Keane causing all kinds of problems for the home side with their powerful runs.

A devastating 10 minute spell saw Richie Hayes,Wes Conheeney and Mark Woodfine all cross for tries despite half back Darren Hill sitting it out in the sin bin. Steve Hill tagged on two of the conversions whilst quick footed Matty Taylor tapped over the other one to give the Rhinos a 42-0 lead.

With the Rhinos back to full strength, surprisingly it was the home side who sneaked in at the corner on 67 minutes however Cadishead had the last say when on 76 minutes Darren Hill scored his fourth try of the day to cap a superb performance.

Martin Burgess, Mark Woodfine and Mark Prescott all had great performances but it was inspirational player/coach Jason Reed who was voted Man of the Match. The Rhinos are at home for their final game of the season on Tuesday 13th April. Kick off 6-15pm against Higginshaw.

Under 11s – Cadishead Rhinos V Latchford Albion Unicorns

Cadishead lost to a strong well drilled Latchford side on Sunday morning but the effort and commitment from the young Rhinos despite being well beaten was there for all to see and the applause they received from both sets of supporters was well deserved.

Louis Busutill, David Williams, Liam Ashurst and William Ridge were outstanding in defence whilst Matthew Sloan, Ben Smith, Ryan Wrigley and Harrison Tyrell caused the visitors numerous problems with there elusive running.
